My journey to OZ land - Part Deux

MH 199 HYD-KUL

my first brush with an international flight... and i was greeted by airhostess's dressed in greeeeeeeeen.... all of them.. even the interiors of the malaysian airlinesflight were predominantly green.. making me wonder, am i travelling to Indonesia or malaysia... (those of u who dint get that one.. indonesia has the world's largest muslim populationso... green is the color of that nation,, )

anyways.. moving on.. i first went through the business class.. man they have some luxuries..but i was shown seats at the back of the aircraft.. as mine was economy class. There were7 seats in each row.. and as expected, the window seat was mine.. 3/4th of the flightwas empty.., so i slept on 4 seats fully stretching myself.. thank god.. else it would have been similar to a painful Volvo bus journey.. just the difference being.. we are spared of the bumps.. (had a few though on the Hyd runway!!) and somewhat better looking ppl to take care of you.

they started serving all kinds of stuff.. had chicken curry for dinner,, err.. i alreadyhad dinner at home.. so i should call it a mid night meal.i spilled some coffee on theblanket,,, but covered it well.. :) There was some not so interesting program beingshown on the big screen in the flight.., "how to defy the ageing process..!!".. huh and i had to go thousands of Km above the earth to see that.. :(Eventually that got over.. and there was this option of music which i never even heard of.. even the names of the artists.. strange.. may be these artists sing onlyfor malaysian airlines.. The bathroom was small and i will leave it to your imagination.

4 hrs got over pretty quickly and the pilot was announcing in some strange language, that we will be landing in KL shortly.. well.. they call Kuala Lampur KL with love..that is what the pilot made us believe. It was raining out there.. and pretty cold.

The airport was awesome.. it is like eons ahead of indian airports.. got to see a lottapeople of different nationalities.. could make out with their accents..!! The US,UK and aussie ppl stand out. Was searching for the gate into which i have to check into to board my plane to Melbourne..
got to know from a map that i have to travel to another terminal in a tram and catch the flight there.there were lotta ppl... and yeah, its not only in mumbai and chennai thatppl hustle their way into the train.. it happens everywhere.. :).My hand baggage was killingme.. i desperately had to get a trolly for it. wanted to call home.. so went to buy a calling card.. hmm but i dint have malaysian Ringets.. so exhanged the aussie dollars for a few ringets and bought a card. Had a tough time figuring out how to use the card..

There was some problem at the checkin.. i dint have a boarding pass,, mine was a throughcheckin from hyderabad to Melbourne.. so i dint get a second brdng pass.. but the lady insisted that i show my pouch to her.. she dint believe that i dint have one.. i still cant understand why she was thinking i was hiding the boarding pass from her andplaying some kinda prank on her.. i hope i dont see cleverer staff.. :)

Took some time out to roam about in the KLIA (Kuala Lampur International Airport.) got to see Versace,Christian Dior,Gucci,Bvlgari outlets for the first time.. good that i dint have much money and time...

The Reluctant lyricist - chronicles of the Insane..

After a self imposed hiatus due to my inability to maintain a work life balance , i am back to doing wat i really like.. writing crap and spamming ppl's mailboxes to read it :) So here i am being a reluctant lyricist to satisfy the gulzar in me... Apart from a few aberrations like himesh reshamiyya, altaf raja, anu malik (non-filmi) and their kin.. hindi music has been pretty enjoyable over the last few decades.. well that just made me sound like someone who has been listening to hindi music since the 1970's .. but my knowledge is limited to as i said the blips in the last 10 years or so. I was just thinking if i can dwell on some hindi songs with a twist .. the twist being the added knowledge about good old hyderabadi lingo :) as navjot sidhu would say, u can remove anup from hyderabad.. but u can't remove hyderabad from anup ..! (sigh) Following is a refresher course on commonly used/abused words in hyderabad and their marriage with some chart busters wherever i can.

Mera Bharat MyHorn..!!

Just when you thought i disappeared from the face of the most populous city of the second most populous country of the most populated planet... here i am.. back to college after a 2 month ' weight loss ' program called summer internship! ( 4hrs of traveling in the sweltering heat and you d agree with me) Being one of the lucky ones to have been to 5 of the 6 metros (Somehow never got a chance to go to BANDHladesh ... Kolkata for the uninitiated) i thought it would be fun to compare the road manners across the ones ive have lived in sufficiently and have had the privilege to experience : Hyderabad, Bengalooru and Mumbai . Congestion on roads is a common thread that connects all these cities.. but all the misery is to end soon .. what with the Bengalooru,Hyderabad and Mumbai metros coming up within no time.. just another 11-13 yrs ! But you never know.. the mumbai metro with a super charged Anil Ambani could be completed a few days before schedule and may be we can have

The Curious Case of Indian Graffiti....

The thing with Indian graffiti is that in most cases only the guy who writes it can make out what it is and have a good laugh about it.. cos either his handwriting would be a graphologist's nightmare or it would give the creators of spell check a massive heart attack.. over the years ive seen things written on,in,below,between,along,above.. using up every possible centimeter available of various canvasses from restrooms,to trees.. to UNESCO world heritage sites! and the all time favorite Indian graffiti muse.. " the public transport ". But the thing that struck me most was the passion with which they do it, so much effort.. chiseling on sandstone or concrete is not easy... Although you would have seen a thousand examples of this dying art.. some of them just stay with you, either for their stupidity or uniqueness.. below are some of them that most of you might have seen.. but lets revisit to see if they were Write or wrong ! Fast fact : Most of the graffiti is bas
